What is tested
You must describe an interval fully, such as "minor 6th" rather than just "6th", and write an interval above or below a given note. Intervals below a note, and intervals wider than an octave, are where accuracy usually breaks down.
Common mistakes
Intervals below a given note are routinely measured as though they were above it. Find the lower note first, then count upwards from that note to the given one — the answer describes the distance between them, not the direction you worked in.
