What is this tool?
A chord diagram reference showing fretboard fingerings — with finger numbers and barre marks — for every combination of root and chord type. Most chords have multiple positions available for comparison.
When it helps
-
Look up an unfamiliar chord
Run into a chord you don't know how to play? Instantly see exactly where your fingers go on the fretboard.
-
Find another position for the same chord
Browse open-position and higher-position fingerings side by side and pick the one that fits your song or phrase best.
-
Link fretboard to keyboard theory
The same chord is shown on piano too, so you can connect a guitar shape to the notes that actually make up the chord.
How to use
- 1 Choose a root (C, C#, … B) and a chord type (M, m, 7, maj7, m7, and more) in the top bar.
- 2 All available diagrams for that chord appear — compare positions across the fretboard.
- 3 Tap a diagram or the play button to hear the chord.
- 4 The keyboard below mirrors the notes so you can cross-check fretboard and piano.
- 5 Beginners: start with open-position shapes (around frets 1–4) before tackling barre chords.
