What is this tool?

A chord diagram reference showing fretboard fingerings — with finger numbers and barre marks — for every combination of root and chord type. Most chords have multiple positions available for comparison.

When it helps

  • Look up an unfamiliar chord

Run into a chord you don't know how to play? Instantly see exactly where your fingers go on the fretboard.

  • Find another position for the same chord

Browse open-position and higher-position fingerings side by side and pick the one that fits your song or phrase best.

  • Link fretboard to keyboard theory

The same chord is shown on piano too, so you can connect a guitar shape to the notes that actually make up the chord.

How to use

  1. 1 Choose a root (C, C#, … B) and a chord type (M, m, 7, maj7, m7, and more) in the top bar.
  2. 2 All available diagrams for that chord appear — compare positions across the fretboard.
  3. 3 Tap a diagram or the play button to hear the chord.
  4. 4 The keyboard below mirrors the notes so you can cross-check fretboard and piano.
  5. 5 Beginners: start with open-position shapes (around frets 1–4) before tackling barre chords.
