What is this tool?
A transpose tool that shifts a chord progression up or down to a different key. Compare the original and transposed versions side by side and listen to both — useful when a song is out of your vocal range or you need to adapt it to another instrument.
When it helps
-
Match your vocal range
Shift a song up or down in semitone steps to find a key that fits your voice comfortably.
-
Adapt to your instrument
Quickly rework a chart for capo positions on guitar or for transposing instruments like trumpet or clarinet.
-
Practice in every key
Take a progression you know and play it through all 12 keys to build fluency beyond a single tonal center.
How to use
- 1 Type a chord progression separated by spaces (e.g. C Am F G) into the input at the top.
- 2 Use 'Format' — or just blur the field — to auto-space chords you typed without gaps.
- 3 Pick a semitone amount with the ± stepper, or tap a preset like +5 or +7 in the top bar.
- 4 The 'Before' and 'After' panels update instantly; press ▶ on either card to hear just that version.
- 5 Hit 'Play both' in the bottom dock to play the original followed by the transposed version back to back.
