Key Signatures
What is tested
You will name the key of a passage, write a key signature in a given clef, and identify relative major and minor pairs. The order and vertical placement of the accidentals in the alto and tenor clefs is a common and avoidable slip.
Common mistakes
Naming a minor key from its signature is where most marks go. Three sharps is either A major or F sharp minor, and only the music tells you which — look for the raised leading note as an accidental before you commit.
